We have much catching up to do.

This month, we will be reading a book about the passion to chase and obtain the seemingly unattainable.

We will be consuming the book: The God Chasers "My Soul Will Follow Hard After Thee"
by: Tommy Tenny.

Brief Synopsis:

In an age of instant gratification and information overload, Tommy Tenney emphasizes that "we like things to come quickly, easily, and cheaply--microwave revival." The God Chasers seeks to reach those who hunger for God's manifest presence and whose endurance to boldly pursue Him will lead to heartfelt revival in America's churches.

Tenney's passionate heart reveals that being caught by God is the hope--"you're chasing the impossible, knowing it's possible...the pursuer becomes the pursued."

The book is available in the following formats:

• Paperback
• Hardback
• Audio (CD)

We will be reading & Discussing this books from 09 to 31 March.

Please post your comments, questions or discussion through the comment link at the end of this post
I hope you will enjoy reading this book, discussing key attributes of the book and hopefully putting some of the wisdom into practise.

If you would like to suggest a book for next month or future reading, please send details to remi@adayingodswill.co.uk.

Happy Reading
Remi

The Reading Begins... ! Book Reading for January

Hello fellow book worms,

I trust you had a good holiday season; of maybe resting, eating, and spending time with the family. It is good to be alive to see yet another year and indeed a new decade. I pray these are your best yet!

Thank you for the emails and comments regarding the previous book reads.

Summary of lessons from last reading:

we were inspired by the encouragement to push themselves just that little further, realising that they were indeed made for greatness.

We also learnt a great lesson about time management. From the Prime minister, to the Queen, to you and I, we all get 24 hours in a day and no more. What we choose to do with these hours on a daily basis will eventually manifest itself in our future.

Finally, we learnt that there is no coach, teacher, guide like God. He is the good and perfect Shepherd afterall. We simply have to trust Him 100% to teach and guide us through the sometimes trying pathways in life.

BOOK READING FOR JANUARY

The title of the book selected to open the reading sessions for this year seems appropriate. God's plan since before time began is about to unfold worldwide. He is going to establish His rule through people like you. He will cover the earth with His glory by pouring Himself into His people.

Monroe shows the reader how to enjoy continuous fellowship with the Lord. Throughout the book he offers answers to earthly problems, such as: warfare and conflict, violence, criminal offenses, the AIDS epidemics. He discusses child abuse, environmental issues, cultural clashes, economic crisis, political and religious corruption, and the resulting culture of fear.

Dr. Munroe explains how you can be directly involved in God's Big Idea by helping plant and multiply His garden communities where all God's children live fruitful and abundant lives. Discover God's Big Idea, and you will find your own destiny!

BOOK AVAILABILITY - The book is available in the following formats:

Paperback

Hardback

Audio (CD & MP3)

We will be reading & Discussing this books from 04 to 28 January

Please post your comments, questions or discussion through the comment link (HOW TO GUIDE at the end of this post)

I hope you will enjoy reading these books, discussing key attributes of the book and hopefully putting some of the wisdom into practise.

If you would like to suggest a book for next month or future reading, please send details to remi@adayingodswill.co.uk.

HOW TO POST A COMMENT GUIDE:

Put your cursor on the 'comment' Link at the end of this post

Click on the 'comment' link - a dialogue box will appear

on the right hand side, there is space to type in your text - 'Leave your comment'

Type in your comment

Type in the 'word Verification'

If you have a blog, then log in and your name will appear in the link as you

If you don't have a blog, continue with the following instructions:

Type in the 'word verification'

Select 'Name / URL button'

You don't need to type in your URL

Press the 'PUBLISH YOUR COMMENT' button

Refresh your web page and click on the 'comment' link and your comment will appear! Well done!

Happy Reading & Discussing.

Regards, Remi

<link rel='alternate' type='text/html' href='http://booksfortheseason.blogspot.com/2010/01/reading-begins-book-reading-for-january.html' title='The Reading Begins... ! BORDER-LEFT: medium none; BORDER-TOP: medium none; BORDER-RIGHT: medium none">In Reposition Yourself, T.D. Jakes insightfully enables you to adjust to the many changes that life brings. Along with confronting areas where subtle passivity or poor choices may have held you back, Jakes instructs you in how to manage change and maximize life now. With wisdom and practicality, Jakes covers financial, relational, and spiritual creativity and shows how adapting to transitional life moments can lead to an enriched existence filled with contentment at every stage. If you're seeking to make the future years even more productive, Reposition Yourself offers reality-based plans to help you embrace and expect change, rather than fear it.

The second book has been around for a while. It is written by best selling author Alec Mackenzie and Pat Nikerson: The Time Trap

Brief synopsis

Since it was first published, The Time Trap, by internationally known authority Alec Mackenzie, has indeed become The Classic Book on Time Management, as proclaimed in its subtitle. Based on the theory that self-management is the key to handling the time crunch that we all face, it focuses primarily on Mackenzie's 20 biggest time wasters, such as telephone interruptions, the inability to say "no," and personal disorganization, and offers clear step-by-step ways to combat them. The updated third edition also includes information on time problems caused by technology, downsizing, and self-employment.

The final book is written by another best selling author Larry Julian : God is my Coach

Brief Synopsis

Business leadership coach Larry Julian helps readers navigate "the gray zone"-those make or break moments of decision making that are filled with uncertainty. There are times when intellectual and business logic are tested beyond one's perceived limits, when important decisions have no correct answers and can only be made by a leap of faith. Our true greatness lies within the gray. Julian shows readers that, with God's guidance, uncertainty is the very catalyst for making wise, impactful decisions that shape destinies. We learn to live and lead in the context of uncertainty rather than becoming paralyzed by it. GOD IS MY COACH is the means to living a significant life and to leading others in an uncertain world.

Apart from paper back, these books are available through the following media formats:

As an e-book, through Kindle.

Audio (CD and MP3) from amazon.com

We will be reading this books from 02 to 30 November 2009

If you would like to suggest a book for next month or future reading, please send details to remi.banjo@adayingodswill.co.uk.

I hope you will enjoy reading these books, discussing key attributes of the book and hopefully putting some of the wisdom into practise.

FREE BOOKS GIVEAWAY!!!

Finally, A Page A Day is giving away free books every month for the next few months. If you reside in England, you would agree with me that the weather has been absolutely beautiful. I am thankful to God for the ability to enjoy such splendid sunshine.

In a weather such as this, a simple pleasure of mine is going to the park with a couple of books in hand and getting stuck in. How about you?

Hopefully, the books we will be consuming this month, will enrich your time in the sun and also provoking questions about the meanings and pleasures of life and love.

We will be consuming two books for the month of June.

The first book is called: Purpose Driven Life, written by Rick Warren

A Brief Synopsis:
The spiritual premise in The Purpose-Driven Life is that there are no accidents---God planned everything and everyone. Therefore, every human has a divine purpose, according to God's master plan. Like a twist on John F. Kennedy's famous inaugural address, this book could be summed up like this: "So my fellow Christians, ask not what God can do for your life plan, ask what your life can do for God's plan." Those who are looking for advice on finding one's calling through career choice, creative expression, or any form of self-discovery should go elsewhere. This is not about self-exploration; it is about purposeful devotion to a Christian God. The book is set up to be a 40-day immersion plan, recognizing that the Bible favors the number 40 as a "spiritually significant time.

The second book is quite a good one and it is called:

Tropical Fish: Tales From Entebbe and it is written by Doreen Baingana

Brief Synopsis:
Ugandan-born Baingana chronicles in her debut collection of linked stories the lives of three sisters growing up in Entebbe after the fall of Idi Amin. Though most of the stories take place in Africa, "Lost in Los Angeles" follows the principal character, Christine Mugisha, as she travels to California, where she grapples with a different breed of racism than she faces in her own country. The title story, "Tropical Fish," follows Christine's apathetic affair with an older, affluent white man who woos her with the many perks of his money. "A Thank-You Note" is a letter from Christine's older sister, Rosa, to an ex-lover that angrily and poignantly recounts her battle with AIDS. Baingana's characters are confined by a passivity and powerlessness (Christine likens herself to a plastic doll) rarely broken, though the collection ends on a hopeful note.

These books are available through the following media formats:

Book format

As an e-book, through Kindle.

Audio (CD and MP3) from : http://www.briantracy.com

We will be reading these books from 01 June to 30 June.

Happy reading and I look forward to reading your comments.

If you do have book suggestions, please drop a comment on the site or send me an email at: remi.adayingodswill@yahoo.co.uk

Book Reading for the month of April

Firstly, Happy Easter fellow book worms.

Last month's book reading was a very interesting one. I could hardly put the book down from the moment I picked it up. There was a lot of 'ouch' moments whilst reading them as it went on to present a new meaning to the term and action 'dating' !! I learnt a a whole lot of new things, and had to let go of old reasonings and thinkings - not an easy feat I tell you.

Quite a few of the recommendations, I am working on and through right now, and I must say it presents quite an interesting reality to dating. How about you? How did you find the book or what did you learn from it?

Moving on to this month's book reading; in view of the global economic climate I have decided to choose a book that goes the opposite direction of the media's message of doom and gloom.

What we allow to reside within our minds and seep into our sub-consciousness, eventually becomes our reality. To escape and rise above the reality of recession and stories of doom and gloom that is evident in today's world, we must change our thinking. When we change our thinking to positive things and success stories, for instance, and let those things become our more dominant thoughts; eventually, it will be come our sweet reality.

I am sure most have heard the saying "as a man thinks in his mind, that is what he will eventually become". What are you thinking about yourself and your situation or circumstance?

I hope this book further encourages and teaches us how change our thinking, and eventually our lives for the good.

This month, we will be consuming the following:

Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life:

How to Unlock Your Full Potential for Success and Achievement by Brian Tracy.

Brief Synopsis:

Brian Tracy is one of the most popular professional speakers and business authorities in the world today. Every year, he lives his dream by helping thousands of people live their own dreams.

In this book Tracy offers a proven plan for transforming your life by changing the way you think about yourself and your potential. What you think has a profound effect on what you do and how you do it. You can only achieve it when you believe it! If you don’t think you can do it, you never will. Your life experiences determine the way you think. But your thoughts aren’t set in stone. Just like you can learn to ride a bike or play chess, you can also learn to control your thinking and control your life.

This book shows you how to change the way you think and open new doors to unlimited possibilities. Based on thirty years of experience sharing this philosophy with more than two million people, Change Your Thinking, Change Your Life focuses on the importance of setting goals, expanding your thinking, and imagining your own unlimited potential.

The book is available through the following media formats:

Book format

As an e-book, through Kindle.

Audio (CD and MP3) from : www.BrianTracy.com

We will be reading this book from 11 to 30 April.

Happy reading and I look forward to reading your comments.

Book Reading for the month of March

March’s book reading is an interesting one. I must say that Joel Osteen has done it again with the book Become a Better You. It was a simple read, which is relevant to every day reading. One is able to relate guidance and encouragement he gives into daily living.

January's book reading has thought and encouraged us to start this year, and all things for that matter, well; positively and with a champion spirit.

For February, we move towards books that are entertaining, inspiring, yet at the same time educating and challenging.

The first book for this month is:

Five People you meet in heaven by Mitchm Albom

Brief Synopsis:

In many ways, The Five People You Meet in Heaven is a simple little book; as is so often the case, the most profound of answers are revealed most clearly in the simplest of explanations. This is not a book about heaven in a religious sense; the truths it establishes are to be found right here in our own lives: every life has a purpose, every person and every action is related, and while you may not be able to discern it now, it all makes sense in the end.

While this is a great and rewarding read, some readers will never give themselves fully to the story and will thus wonder what the big deal about this book is. For many, though, The Five People You Meet in Heaven will provide an important level of comfort and inspiration for those who see only a past of regrets and no future. We all sometimes wonder why we are here and whether it's even worth going on day after meaningless, monotonous day. This book does not provide the definitive answer to such profound questions, but it does provide an answer - and it is a comforting one.

The second Book for this month is:

The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini

A brief synopsis:

In his debut novel, The Kite Runner, Khaled Hosseini accomplishes what very few contemporary novelists are able to do. He manages to provide an educational and eye-opening account of a country's political turmoil--in this case, Afghanistan--while also developing characters whose heartbreaking struggles and emotional triumphs resonate with readers long after the last page has been turned over. And he does this on his first try.

The Kite Runner follows the story of Amir, the privileged son of a wealthy businessman in Kabul, and Hassan, the son of Amir's father's servant. As children in the relatively stable Afghanistan of the early 1970s, the boys are inseparable. They spend idyllic days running kites and telling stories of mystical places and powerful warriors until an unspeakable event changes the nature of their relationship forever, and eventually cements their bond in ways neither boy could have ever predicted. Even after Amir and his father flee to America, Amir remains haunted by his cowardly actions and disloyalty. In part, it is these demons and the sometimes impossible quest for forgiveness that bring him back to his war-torn native land after it comes under Taliban rule. ("...I wondered if that was how forgiveness budded, not with the fanfare of epiphany, but with pain gathering its things, packing up, and slipping away unannounced in the middle of the night.")

We will be consuming the two books from the 3rd to 28th February.

Knowledge is power, wisdom is golden.
A page A Day, A book a month
Enlightenment transpires, transforming minds

Happy Reading... x

Remi

Book Reading for January

Hello fellow readers,

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I wish you success and fulfilment of dreams and desires in all areas of your life in 2009 and beyond.

Being a new year, most will sit down and make resolutions, a list of what they want to achieve by the end of the year; come rain, sun or high waters!

However, it is safe to say that, our attitude and outlook as we approach the 'work' and 'walk' we have in front of us this year, will make a huge difference, and further release us into our respective destiny.

To start any tasks and indeed a new phase of life; a new year, it is important that we approach it with a renewed and positive attitude. The phrase "You cannot pour new wine into old wine skins comes to mind here"

With that in mind, the book readings for this month encourage us to embrace a new and improved attitude, so that we can indeed become better individuals, better equipped for the work and walk in hand.

This month, we will be consuming two books.

The first book we will be reading is: The Power of Positive Thinking

Brief synopsis:

The underlying sentiment - that a positive attitude and faith in yourself attracts success and happiness - has had a profound effect in the personal development of millions of people. While it is fashionable these days to mock simple sentiments like 'maintain a positive attitude', no alternative has ever had such a dramatic impact in the development or transformation of individuals.

The second book we will be consuming is : Become a Better You

Brief Synopsis:
Joel Osteen offers seven simple yet profound action steps that will help readers discover the better things they were born for... their individual purpose and destiny. As charming and passionate on the page as he is in person, Osteen incorporates key biblical principles, devotions, and personal testimonies that will uplift and enlighten readers. He speaks directly to the hearts and concerns of people from every walk of life. People love Joel Osteen--they love to be in his presence, to hear him speak, and to read what he's written--they just can't get enough of him.
Become a Better You will encourage and inspire readers to reach their full, unique and God given potential.

We will be consuming the books above from 01/01/2009 to 31/01/2009

Happy reading and learning. Remember, you are only as powerful and equipped for the journey ahead, by the amount of wisdom and knowledge you have.

Knowledge is power, wisdom is golden!
I look forward to reading your comments.

Best Wishes
Remi

Book Reading for December

Hello fellow readers,

I hope we are all doing good and looking forward to concluding the year strong by God's grace.

The book we will be consuming for the next few weeks, the month of December is called:

When God winks by Squire Rushnell.

Brief introduction

You may have suspected all along that there is more to coincidence than meets the eye. It talks about having a dream, but more importantly, working to bring it to reality. I believe this will be an interesting and inspiring read.

The second book is called The Secret, by Rhonda Byrne. It's a book about simple things we all know, but sometimes need reminding of. I pray it is all that you pray and hope it to be.

So, what did you think of the books selected for September?

I thought the "Money Secret" is so relevant for this season we are in. It teaches us how to get ourselves out of debt, if we are in it, and how to live within our means.

But more importantly, it teaches us the plots society uses to try and suck us into the never ending debt whirlpool and keep us there.

I also thought the "Richest man in Babylon" portrayed and taught, simple, yet profound foundation skills, thinking and insight on how to build wealth, with what we have and from where we currently are in life.

October Reading - Book suggestions and Timelines
The forum is now open for us all to put forward reading suggestions for the month of October.

<img id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5252183911645958162" style="DISPLAY: block;
